Spanning construction, education, healthcare, relief, seasonal campaigns, and sustainable development, these initiatives advance the association’s humanitarian mission to uplift vulnerable communities and improve global living standards.
Wide-ranging humanitarian impact
Mohammed Rashid bin Bayat, Vice Chairman of the SCI’s Board of Directors, emphasised that these numbers underscore the vast scale of their humanitarian operations. He noted the organisation’s steadfast commitment to directing donor contributions toward projects that yield a permanent positive impact while simultaneously addressing immediate emergency needs.
Construction of mosques and water infrastructure
During the first six months of the year, the SCI built 1,278 mosques at a cost exceeding AED 62.4 million, honouring the specific wishes of donors and supporting Muslim communities abroad. Additionally, it implemented 7,866 well-drilling projects valued at more than AED 30.2 million, delivering clean drinking water to thousands of families and alleviating their daily hardships in accessing safe water sources.
Advancing education and housing initiatives
Educational infrastructure received significant backing, with the construction of 13 schools costing AED 8.1 million and 107 classrooms worth AED 3.7 million. To reinforce its dedication to providing stable living environments alongside education, the SCI also built a fully integrated residential village at a cost of over AED 2 million within the beneficiary communities.
Seasonal support for underprivileged families
Seasonal aid distributions played a major role in the first half of the year, featuring the distribution of 443,000 Iftar meals at a cost of AED 4.4 million, alongside 22,358 sacrificial animals valued at more than AED 7.5 million. The SCI also supplied food baskets, dates, and other vital relief items to assist impoverished families during significant religious seasons.
Expanding vital healthcare services
Medical outreach projects were significantly expanded, highlighted by the establishment of four medical clinics at a cost of AED 1.3 million and the funding of 4,309 eye surgeries costing over AED 2.2 million. The association further financed various other medical initiatives and patient treatment programmes to enhance healthcare accessibility for underserved populations.
Driving sustainable development
To foster long-term self-sufficiency, the SCI implemented 804 income-generating development projects, established 45 charitable endowment shops, built 64 homes for needy families, and constructed 17 service complexes and centers. Solar energy systems and water desalination plants were also deployed to secure the sustainability of vital local services.
Comprehensive community welfare programmes
Broad community welfare initiatives were carried out to enrich local social and spiritual life. These programmes included sponsoring imams, distributing copies of the Holy Quran, providing direct family support, facilitating Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, and organising Quran memorisation competitions, alongside various other humanitarian and relief efforts.
A dedication to sustainable, lasting solutions
Bin Bayat concluded by stating that the wide diversity of these projects highlights the association's core strategy of balancing emergency relief with sustainable development. The goal remains to move beyond temporary fixes to deliver long-term solutions that allow communities to achieve self-reliance. He noted that every project is launched based on thorough field studies identifying priority needs in each target country, executed in close coordination with local offices and partners, and subjected to continuous monitoring to ensure long-term viability.
