Attended by the club’s exhibitions and events manager Khalifa Al-Shimi, alongside local artists and art enthusiasts, the session focused on helping participants transform emotions and concepts into expressive visual art through monochrome composition, depth and shadow techniques.
Labib, a Cairo Fine Arts graduate, drew on his extensive experience as an illustrator and director for prominent regional publications such as Al-Gomhouria and Al-Khaleej. He reflected on his early journalism career when newspapers were strictly black and white, saying it shaped his artistic approach and appreciation for monochrome expression. During the theoretical segment, he discussed the power of contrast and reduction, highlighting ink drawing as the most challenging medium due to its irreversible nature.
The workshop concluded with live drawing demonstrations by Labib, which encouraged participants to experiment and produce their own original artworks. He praised Sharjah’s cultural vision under His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and commended the Arab Cultural Club for its continued support of artists and cultural initiatives across the region.
