Within the emirate, public bus services carried a total of 89,121 passengers across 4,372 trips, operated by 104 buses on the public transport network. The network continued to provide efficient services, contributed to improved traffic flow, and offered safe and convenient mobility options for all segments of society.
The joint marine transport service operated by the road and transport authorities in Sharjah and Dubai also recorded strong demand, completing 25 sea trips between the two emirates and carrying 1,600 passengers, further strengthening connectivity and providing a safe and comfortable travel option during holidays and peak seasons.
Meanwhile, the taxi sector recorded approximately 386,500 trips across the emirate’s road network. A total of 17,920 bookings were completed, comprising 13,369 reservations made via various smart applications and 4,551 via the contact centre. The authority also received 2,208 enquiries and suggestions, reflecting the efficiency of its services and the integration of its booking and communication channels.
Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, said the operational indicators recorded during the Eid Al Adha holiday demonstrate the efficiency of the transport system and the authority’s readiness to meet increased seasonal demand, supported by comprehensive operational plans and safe, reliable transport services.
He added: “We are committed to continuously developing our services to enhance quality of life in the Emirate of Sharjah and to provide a modern, sustainable transport system that facilitates mobility for individuals and families, in line with the UAE’s strategic directions and the objectives of the Year of the Family.”
Al Othmani further noted that the authority continues to enhance public and marine transport, as well as taxi services, while adopting smart solutions to improve operational efficiency and elevate the customer experience. He stressed that the results achieved during the Eid holiday reflect the success of the authority’s operational plans and the growing public confidence in its services.
