Abdulrahim Al Zarouni receives Veteran Personality Award

His Excellency Abdulrahim Mohammed Al Zarouni was presented with the Veteran Personality Award in Voluntary Work in recognition of his long-standing contributions to charitable and community initiatives, as well as his efforts in strengthening the values of volunteering and generosity.

Al Zarouni is among the UAE’s prominent supporters of philanthropy. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Zarouni Group and founder and chairman of Dubai Sports City. He was also named among the "Philanthropy Pioneers" for 2025 after contributing more than $43.5 million to the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Center and the "Father’s Endowment" campaign.

Sixteen blood donors recognised for humanitarian contributions

The award also honoured 16 blood donors for their continued humanitarian efforts and contribution to healthcare initiatives. The recognition highlights blood donation as one of the most valuable forms of volunteerism and community service.

The honourees included Iyad Shehab Bashmani, Rashid Mohammed Al Nasser, Karam Khalid Moussa, Mohammed Mubarak Khatem Ahmed, Jassim Yousef Boussim Al Ali, Abdul Salam Saleh Rashid Mohammed, Jassim Juma Obaid Al Ketbi, Ahmed Musbeh Mohammed Al Tunaiji, Waleed Ibrahim Hussein Hussein, Mohammed Nouh Al Din, Iyad Osama Shehadeh Amr, Ibrahim Mohammed Yousef Al Darmaki, Majeed Abdullah Jaafar Mohammed, Anas Khalid Ali Abdul Razzaq, Abdul Wahid Shafi Abdul Rahman Al Kamali, and Anas Mustafa Al Miqdad.

Celebrating a culture of giving and social responsibility

The special recognition categories are part of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work’s mission to honour individuals, initiatives, and humanitarian figures who have made exceptional contributions to society and helped establish volunteerism as a sustainable community practice.

During the ceremony, Al Zarouni praised the UAE’s leadership for fostering humanitarian values and creating a global model in charitable and volunteer work. He emphasised that the UAE’s culture of giving encourages individuals to take the initiative in serving others and supporting their communities.

Suad Al Shamsi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, stated that the recognition reflects the award’s commitment to celebrating individuals who have created a lasting social impact. She noted that volunteerism extends beyond institutional efforts to include personal acts of kindness that save lives, strengthen communities, and inspire others to contribute.
