The MoU was signed by His Excellency Professor Dr Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, and Her Excellency Mona Bousamra, Director of Dubai Media Academy, in the presence of several members of the university's academic and administrative staff.
The MoU aims to implement joint academic and training programmes, organise workshops and professional seminars in the fields of media and communication, exchange expertise, faculty members and students, and develop research collaborations to contribute to preparing qualified media professionals who meet the demands of the local and global job market.
In a statement on this occasion, His Excellency Professor Dr Awad Al Khalaf affirmed that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Dubai Media Academy aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Founder of Al Qasimia University, to support quality education and strengthen national partnerships linking academic institutions with their media counterparts. This reinforces Al Qasimia University's role in serving the community and contributes to empowering its students with modern media knowledge.
The Chancellor of Al Qasimia University added that this partnership will open new horizons for applied and research collaboration in the fields of media and communication, enhancing the integration between university education and the requirements of professional practice in media institutions.

On the sidelines of the signing, Professor Mona Bousamra delivered a lecture to students of the College of Communication entitled "Modern Trends in Media." The lecture was attended by His Excellency Professor Dr Hisham Abbas, Dean of the College of Communication, and several faculty members. The session was moderated by Dr Wadad Haroun, Associate Professor at the College.
The lecture addressed the most prominent transformations in the modern media industry and the role of digital technologies in developing media work environments and content creation. It emphasised the importance of equipping students with the skills to use artificial intelligence applications and developing critical and creative thinking that meets the demands of contemporary media.
During her lecture, Bousmara presented an analytical vision of the future of media in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence. She addressed several key themes, including the pioneering role of the Dubai Media Academy in preparing the next generation of media professionals through its programs, its contribution to empowering national talent and keeping pace with the digital transformation, the latest developments in the media job market in the UAE and the Arab region, and the opportunities for growth and development offered by the digital revolution.
Bousmara also discussed the role of Emirati women in media as an inspiring success story and a model of leadership and excellence. She further explored the future of media education in light of the digital transformation and the importance of preparing graduates with advanced communication and technical skills.
