The event provided students with valuable insights into nuclear energy, radiation safety, and leadership development, while showcasing how the ENRA Ambassadors Programme supports professional growth in one of the UAE’s most advanced sectors.
Dr Bassam Khuwaileh, Associate Professor at the College of Engineering and Coordinator of the Nuclear Engineering Programme at UOS, welcomed participants and highlighted that the ENRA Ambassadors Programme is the first of its kind in the UAE. Jointly launched by UOS and FANR, the initiative aims to prepare young leaders to increase awareness about nuclear energy applications within academic and community settings, in line with the UAE’s long-term vision for innovation and sustainability.
He observed that the workshop included interactive activities and communication exercises designed to boost students’ engagement and understanding. Participants examined the Academy’s digital platform, which offers specialised training modules and media resources to enhance public awareness of nuclear and radiation science. Brainstorming sessions were also conducted to develop innovative strategies for expanding the platform’s reach and societal impact.
Wardah Isaacs, Manager of Operations Training at FANR, expressed her gratitude to the University of Sharjah for its ongoing partnership in promoting nuclear education. She explained that ENRA Ambassadors serve as a link between advanced nuclear knowledge and student involvement, encouraging others to join the programme and contribute to shaping the UAE’s clean energy future.
She added, “The ENRA e-Learning Platform provides seven comprehensive courses in nuclear science and radiation safety. Through hands-on activities, participants develop communication and creative thinking skills to help expand ENRA’s impact while discovering new career pathways in one of the UAE’s fastest-growing sectors.”
The workshop was attended by university faculty members and students, alongside Shaima Al Mansoori, Director of Education and Training at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation. The event strengthened the strategic partnership between UOS and FANR, emphasising their shared commitment to developing national talent, promoting nuclear literacy, and preparing a new generation of experts to lead the UAE’s transition towards a sustainable, clean-energy future.
