Held over two weeks following the Maghrib prayer each day at Al-Hikmah Mosque in Sharjah, the lectures were delivered by Dr Wael Mohammed Abdullah.
The council explored a selection of Qur’anic supplications recited by the Prophets, highlighting their linguistic and theological meanings as interpreted by Imam Al-Tabari (may Allah have mercy upon him).
It presented a scholarly approach that connects Qur’anic texts with their spiritual and educational objectives, providing deeper understanding of faith and reflection.
This event forms part of a wider series of scientific councils organised by Al Muntada, reflecting Sharjah’s cultural vision to promote classical Islamic scholarship and strengthen ties with authentic sources of Islamic knowledge.
It contributes to fostering a spirit of moderation and balanced religious understanding within society.
The council discussed several Qur’anic examples of prophetic supplications.
It serves as a guidance for seeking divine assistance and clarity when entrusted with responsibility.
Dr Wael underscored Al-Tabari’s interpretation, noting that the purposes of supplication vary between seeking mercy, forgiveness, victory, and guidance. He affirmed that the Prophets’ prayers form a comprehensive school for self-purification and spiritual elevation.
This concluding session continues Al Muntada’s mission to enhance religious and cultural awareness, reaffirming Sharjah’s position as a beacon of scholarship and learning.
The emirate stands as a centre of intellectual enlightenment, dedicated to preserving Islamic heritage and making it accessible to modern generations through thoughtful education and interpretation.
