Aisha Al Mulla, Director of FOCP, emphasized the importance of community collaboration: “By bringing vital breast health services directly into neighborhoods, we help ensure that every woman has the opportunity to access early detection and lifesaving care. Partnerships with committed entities such as Sharjah Sustainable City reinforce the message that health awareness and prevention are shared responsibilities.”
Pink October and global context
October is observed globally as Pink October, or Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to promote timely screenings and early detection. According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer among women, with 2.3 million cases worldwide in 2022. Studies show early detection significantly reduces mortality.
