Sharjah 24: As part of its preparations for the Sharjah International Book Fair, the Sociological Association has announced the release of several new research publications. These works reflect the association's commitment to being a key player in sharing knowledge, raising social awareness, and promoting sustainable development through science and practical experience. Since its inception, the association has focused on making social knowledge a cornerstone in building a more compassionate and sustainable society by supporting research that tackles critical social issues and provides practical solutions.

One of the new publications is a research book by Dr Hala Al Ablam, which explores how social work can enhance leadership skills when working with inmates and those who have been released from prison. This important topic ties into the ongoing changes surrounding restorative justice and community rehabilitation. The book offers a comprehensive view of how strong institutional leadership and social skills can transform correctional facilities into environments that promote rehabilitation and help reintegrate individuals into society positively.

Another publication comes from Dr Amal Al Nuaimi, who examines what influences young people's attitudes toward extremist ideas and violence in the UAE. This study, based on solid scientific research methods, looks at the social, psychological, family, and media factors that shape these attitudes. It involved surveying students from higher education institutions in Sharjah, which adds credibility to its findings. Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasizes that to effectively combat extremism, we must understand its local roots, and that fostering a sense of belonging and moderation is crucial for safeguarding society from radical ideas.

Dr Mohammed bin Jarsh Al Suwaidi, a member of the Sociological Association’s board and head of the Cultural Committee, believes these publications mark a significant advancement for the association as a respected scientific and community organization. He stated, “The association values books and research as vital tools for developing informed individuals and a society that can adapt positively to change while remaining true to its identity and core values.”

He also highlighted that participating in the Book Fair demonstrates the association's dedication to its cultural and developmental mission, showcasing the important role social workers play in driving social change and reform. These studies illustrate the impact of applying knowledge to real-world situations, serving as a valuable means for shaping social policies.

In closing, Dr Bin Jarsh emphasized that the Sociological Association will keep supporting research that reflects the unique cultural and social context of the UAE. This commitment is rooted in the belief that transforming knowledge into awareness, and awareness into action, empowers society to face present challenges and build a sustainable future grounded in justice, belonging, and innovation.
