Sharjah 24: The 44th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), which continues until November 16 at Expo Centre Sharjah, commemorates the 100th anniversary of Sharjah Libraries. Ghaith Al Hosani, who is responsible for the Sharjah Libraries pavilion at the expo, said that the event is part of a programme of workshops, discussion sessions, and special membership incentives to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Sharjah Libraries' founding in 1925.

Al Hosani told "Sharjah 24" that this year's participation includes various events and activities, including a series of specialist workshops and cultural dialogues with a group of well-known Arabic authors. Many of them are attending the Sharjah International Book Fair for the first time to learn about Sharjah's pioneering work in promoting reading and knowledge creation.

He also stated that to commemorate the 100th anniversary, Sharjah Libraries is offering visitors special benefits, such as up to 50% off membership fees for those who sign up through the pavilion. This is an effort to encourage more readers, students, and families to use the emirate's public library network. Al Hosani also stated that after the fair, Sharjah Libraries will continue to conduct its reading and cultural activities at all of its branches. This gesture demonstrates that Sharjah will always be the region's centre for books and culture.
