Sharjah 24: The 44th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) continues to be a meeting ground for stories that transcend generations and this year, one of those stories belongs to Khalid Magazine, published in 1992. As part of Dubai Police’s cultural initiatives, the much-loved children’s magazine has become a nostalgic touchpoint for families visiting the fair.

In a space designed for learning through play, the Khalid Magazine booth has drawn children and parents alike with its mix of interactive games, quizzes, and storytelling sessions. While young visitors discover its cheerful cast of characters — Khalid, Ghaith, Wild Hind, and their ever-clumsy robot friend — many adults find themselves revisiting a piece of their own childhood. “We often meet parents who grew up with the magazine and now bring their kids to the stand,” said a representative from the booth. “That continuity is what makes this experience so special.”

For Sharjah, whose book fair has been the region’s cultural heartbeat for 44 years, the presence of Khalid Magazine adds a nostalgic layer to the fair’s vibrant family programming. It’s a reminder of how storytelling has helped nurture civic values, kindness, and community awareness among generations of Emirati children, all through humour, adventure, and imagination.

Now available digitally through the Dubai Police website, Khalid Magazine continues its mission of inspiring young minds with lessons on safety, respect, and curiosity — timeless values that align perfectly with the spirit of SIBF: connecting people through the written (and illustrated) word.
