This step reflects the award’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of institutional excellence, encouraging healthy competitiveness among government entities, and enhancing both institutional and professional performance across Sharjah. The award was launched by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, in October 2023.
In statements to "Sharjah 24," Mona Al Ghawi revealed that the second edition of the award has been enhanced with new evaluation criteria and additional categories to promote participation and innovation further. Among the updates is the introduction of an award for the Best Entity in Governance Practices, along with a new classification for the Best Entity in Implementing Practices, divided into administrative practices, sustainable environmental practices, and specialised institutional practices. The latest edition also features a new “Professional Excellence” category, which recognises outstanding individual achievements. This includes awards for the Best Supervisory Employee, Best Administrative Employee, Innovative Employee, New Employee, and Specialised Professional Employee.
Al Ghawi emphasised that the award aims to enhance institutional competitiveness by promoting the adoption of best practices across all sectors, while also focusing on developing employees' capabilities in administrative excellence and professional performance. She pointed out that the award acts as a platform for employees to showcase their achievements, embrace innovation, and actively engage in excellence programmes.
She concluded by expressing optimism about the second edition of the “Tamayuz” Award, describing it as an opportunity to elevate standards, boost engagement, and realise the aspirations of all participants. Al Ghawi reaffirmed the award’s role as a key driver of innovation, quality, and sustainable development within Sharjah’s institutional framework.
