The event will be held in Goa, India, from 1 to 27 November, organised jointly by the Indian and International Chess Federations. It will feature 206 of the world’s top-ranked players, all vying for the $2 million prize fund and three qualifying spots for the 2026 Candidates Tournament.
Salem Abdulrahman enters the event in high spirits and with great confidence, having recently achieved an unprecedented milestone as the first Arab player in history to reach the Round of 16 at the World Cup.
Salem emphasised his determination to represent UAE chess honourably, noting that the event is an important opportunity to gain additional experience and face the game’s top stars. He expressed his ambition to give his very best against the elite players on the international stage.
