Sharjah24: The University of Sharjah (UOS) and Al Qasimia University (AQU) signed an MoU to foster collaboration, research, and academic exchange. The agreement highlights their joint effort to improve education and promote scholarly growth. The ceremony at UOS was attended by His Excellency Professor Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of UOS, and Professor Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of AQU, along with vice-chancellors, officials, and faculty.

Vision rooted in knowledge and excellence

Welcoming the Al Qasimia delegation, Professor Agamy described the collaboration as a natural extension of two universities sharing the same founder and vision, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. He emphasised that the partnership opens new horizons for academic collaboration, fostering innovation and mutual growth for both students and faculty. Professor Agamy praised Al Qasimia University’s vital role in promoting authentic Islamic culture and advancing values of tolerance and moderation, commending its global outreach and unique approach that combines academic excellence with humanitarian generosity.

Partnership and future expansion

Addressing the attendees, Professor Awad Al Khalaf referred to the University of Sharjah as the “mother university” and a model institution for Al Qasimia University. He highlighted the decade-long cooperation between the two universities since AQU’s establishment, noting that the new MoU marks a strategic expansion of joint academic and research initiatives. He stated that both institutions reflect the visionary leadership of their founder, providing modern higher education while preserving cultural and academic integrity.

Cooperation and joint initiatives

The agreement details extensive collaboration across several key areas, including curriculum development, joint research projects, and faculty exchanges. It also covers co-supervision of graduate theses, strategic studies on higher education, and participation in conferences, workshops, and training programmes.

Furthermore, both universities will collaborate on student internship programmes, exchange membership in scientific committees, and organise joint cultural and educational activities, further enhancing Sharjah’s reputation as a regional centre for education and research.
