This forum is a unique opportunity to discuss and share ideas about how to create effective laws. It aims to foster dialogue among parliamentarians, experts, and legal scholars from various backgrounds. The goal is to find the best ways to develop legislation, particularly around the rapidly growing field of artificial intelligence.
At this first edition, which will be held in 2025, participants will focus on highlighting successful legislative practices related to artificial intelligence. The forum aims to boost collaboration both regionally and internationally to shape policies and laws concerning AI technology. It will also tackle the challenges of implementing these laws in real life. By the end of the forum, attendees will produce a collection of papers and recommendations based on their discussions and findings.
The first session of the forum will focus on the role of Gulf legislative councils in managing artificial intelligence (AI). It will explore the current situation, the challenges faced, and future possibilities. This session will be led by Dr Saif Saeed Al Muhairi, who is responsible for legislative matters at the Federal National Council.
Joining him will be several notable participants, including Dr Ishraq Al Rifai from the Saudi Shura Council, Waleed Al Mansouri from the Federal National Council, Dr Ahmed Al Saadi from the Omani Shura Council, Sadiq Eid Al Rahma from the Bahraini Shura Council, and Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sheikh, who is in charge of the Legislation Department at the Qatari Shura Council. The session aims to make the complex topic of AI governance accessible and relatable for everyone.
The second session of the forum will be held, during which designer and author Gabriele Mazzini will speak - European AI Law to Regulate Artificial Intelligence. This will be followed by the third session of the forum, which will address the topic of artificial intelligence and society, with a paper presented by Engineer Nasser Al Rashidi. The forum will then continue with the fourth session, entitled (The CEO in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Leading the Transformation), with two papers presented by Mubarak Ibrahim, Executive Director of the Telecommunications Sector and CEO of Artificial Intelligence at the Emirates Health Services Corporation; Mohammed Al Shared, Executive Director of the Human Resources Digitization Sector at the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources; and Engineer Matar Al Muhairi, Assistant Secretary-General for Institutional Development at the General Secretariat of the Federal National Council. The session will be moderated by Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director of the Ajman Government Media Office.
