Held under the theme “Promoting Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development in OIC Member States through Parliamentary Cooperation”, the conference brings together parliamentary representatives from across the Islamic world to discuss shared priorities and to strengthen institutional collaboration.
The UAE delegation includes members of the FNC Parliamentary Division to the Union: Sumaya Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Chair of the Group; Aisha Rashid Laiteem, Deputy Chair; Dr Adnan Hamad Al Hammadi; Humaid Ahmed Al Tayer; Mona Rashid Tahnoun; Waleed Ali Al Mansoori; and Afra Rashid Al Basti, Assistant Secretary-General for Parliamentary Communication.
The conference agenda includes geopolitical coordination meetings, sessions of the Executive and General Committees, meetings of the Union’s four specialised standing committees, the 14th Permanent Palestine Committee meeting and the seventh gathering of Secretaries-General of member parliaments.
It will also host the 13th Conference of Muslim Women Parliamentarians, focusing on women’s role in conflict resolution and on the protection of women and children in occupied territories and conflict zones, particularly in Palestine.
The conference is expected to conclude with the adoption of the “Baku Declaration”, which outlines the key recommendations and outcomes of the event.
