Saqr Ghobash discusses parliamentary ties with Parlatino President

Sharjah24: His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), met His Excellency Rolando Miguel González Patricio, President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), on the sidelines of the fourth Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf region in Morocco.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the Federal National Council and the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, including enhancing coordination, consultation and the exchange of expertise to support parliamentary diplomacy and shared interests.

They also explored opportunities to enhance cooperation within international parliamentary forums and exchanged views on a number of regional and global issues of mutual concern, as well as on the role of parliaments in supporting economic cooperation and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

Saqr Ghobash reaffirmed the FNC’s commitment to expanding partnerships with regional and international parliamentary organisations, in line with the UAE’s approach to promoting dialogue, cooperation and strategic partnerships.

He also referred to his recent official visit, during which he led an FNC delegation to several Latin American countries, noting that it had contributed to strengthening strategic partnerships and parliamentary cooperation in line with the growing relations between the UAE and countries across the region.

For his part, Rolando Miguel González Patricio praised the UAE’s achievements and its growing regional and international standing, commending the FNC’s active role in strengthening international parliamentary cooperation.

He also extended an official invitation to Saqr Ghobash to visit the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, further enhancing bilateral parliamentary relations.
