The symposium aimed to promote intellectual security based on Islamic principles, encourage values of tolerance and coexistence, and oppose extremist ideologies. By collaborating with state institutions and research centres, the organisers emphasised the importance of establishing legal and ethical foundations for intellectual security. This vision aligns with the UAE's core principles of fostering tolerance and rejecting violence.
Professor Qutb Al-Raisouni, Dean of the College, began the event by emphasising the forum's dedication to safeguarding youth from radical ideologies. He emphasised that intellectual security is crucial for achieving sustainable social progress and preserving cultural and religious identity.
Dr Abdulrahman Abdullatif, Director of the Forum, described the symposium as part of the University of Sharjah’s mission to promote scientific inquiry and foster a safe intellectual environment. Dr Abdullah Belheif Al Nuaimi delivered the keynote address, emphasising the need to generate and safeguard knowledge from harmful influences. He called for a national observatory to monitor extremist ideologies and highlighted the role of universities in disseminating safe knowledge.
The event concluded with Prof. Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, recognising Dr Al Nuaimi and Dr Mahdi Qais Al-Janabi, Associate Professor in the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies and former director of the forum, for their significant contributions to guiding the forum and advancing its academic mission.
