Spreading the volunteering culture
Souad Al Shamsi, Director of SAVW, emphasised that participation in the forum complements the award's efforts to seize national and community events and occasions to spread the culture of volunteering and attract children and their families by providing educational and awareness-raising content that highlights the importance of volunteering and instills the values of giving in young people from an early age.
A series of activities
Al Shamsi explained that the award's pavilion at the forum featured a collection of publications for children, including the 18th issue of the Little Volunteer magazine, the story of Moza and the Little Heart, a coloring book, an interactive puzzle game, and pictures bearing awareness messages about volunteer work.
The platform also hosted an instant photography event to document children's participation and publish it on social media platforms to promote the activities and the award's role.
Al Shamsi added that the displayed publications included awareness-raising and educational content that combined expressive drawings, narrative dialogue, awareness guidelines, and general and specialised educational information. They also featured interactive activities and educational competitions to enhance children's interest and motivate them to engage positively with the concept of volunteer work.
Al Shamsi emphasised that the awareness stories directed at children focus on the role of the family, community, and school environment in instilling positive values. She noted that the Sharjah International Storyteller Forum, which witnessed a large turnout, is an ideal platform for integrating the concepts of volunteering with heritage and culture in an innovative and child-friendly way.
