Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Heritage Institute is pleased to announce that His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has made an important decision. He has established a new Board of Trustees for the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage, with Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam as its head. This award aims to recognize and promote cultural heritage efforts in the region.

Cultural beacon for preserving heritage

Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, President of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage and Chairman of the Award's Board of Trustees, expressed his gratitude for a recent decision that will help promote culture, especially in the area of heritage.

He praised the ongoing dedication and support from His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, highlighting his efforts to enhance Sharjah’s reputation as a center for culture and science. This commitment aims to make Sharjah a leading destination for the preservation of human heritage.

Valuable, prestigious awards

Al Musallam emphasized that the Sharjah International Cultural Heritage Award will be similar to the prestigious awards launched by the emirate, in terms of its global openness and the role it plays in reflecting Sharjah's regional and international standing.

He added that this award will open new horizons in strengthening Sharjah's position as a destination dedicated to preserving human heritage and connecting the present and future generations to its glorious past.

Investigating, digging up, and safeguarding cultural treasures

The President of the SIH explained that the award will encourage academics, researchers, and young people to research, excavate, and preserve heritage treasures, as they are a cultural foundation that preserves identity.
