Dr Bounama explained that the sessions will highlight the types and significance of journeys, landscapes, observations, and the stories linked to them. A dedicated session will spotlight this year’s Guest of Honour, the Maldives, under the title “The Maldives through the Eyes of Arab and Muslim Travellers and Geographers.”
He added that the forum will celebrate renowned travellers who chronicled their explorations in books that preserved the details of distant lands. The programme will also examine travel literature as an art, subject, and methodology, bridging past and present through discussions enriched by academics and experts.
The programme will provide audiences with insights into the travel traditions and literature within Arab heritage, the marvels recorded in Arab travelogues, and depictions of UAE and Gulf cities in the writings of travellers and geographers. It will also shed light on pioneering contemporary travel experiences.
