Sharjah 24: Dr Sherine Moussa, a member of the Academic Committee of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), announced that the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) has launched a series of preparatory workshops ahead of the 14th edition of the forum, set for September 10–11 under the theme "Communication for Quality of Life." One such workshop, titled "Fundamentals of Media Coverage of Government Events," is designed specifically for university students and media majors.

The SGMB hosted the second workshop in the lead-up to IGCF 2025, continuing its efforts to equip students with practical communication skills.

Training media students for real-world coverage
Dr Moussa explained to Sharjah 24 that the workshop is part of the “comms” programme launched by the forum to train students from media and communication colleges across the UAE. The goal is to prepare them for effective participation in real-world communication, especially in covering government events.

Key skills and knowledge areas
She stated that the workshop helps students understand the full process of media coverage—from gathering information and analysing event context to presenting the content effectively to the public.

Forum to address global priorities
The upcoming IGCF will tackle five global priority topics: food security, public health, education, environmental sustainability, and the green economy.
