Sharjah24: The Sharjah Foundation to Support Pioneering Entrepreneurs (RUWAD) is teaming up with the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority to host an engaging dialogue session as part of their "Ruwad’s Majlis" program. The event, titled "Investing in the Fisheries Sector," will take place this Thursday evening at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah.

This session is a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning about investing in the fishing industry in Sharjah. A group of expert speakers from different government organizations will share valuable insights about the potential investment opportunities in this field. They aim to inspire young people and entrepreneurs to explore new possibilities that can contribute to food security, protect the environment, and strengthen the economy of Sharjah and the wider region.

Experts and stakeholders

The upcoming session is designed for local fishermen and includes various projects that are part of RUWAD, along with investors and anyone interested in fishing. It will feature a group of speakers from different organizations, including the RUWAD team, the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and the Marine Sciences College at the University of Khorfakkan.

During the session, we will discuss several important topics. These include how to support local citizens working in the fishing industry, ways to finance fishing projects through RUWAD’s programs, the role of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority in improving this industry, and why investing in fishing is important both academically and economically.

Promising new sectors

Fatima Al Ali, the Acting Director of RUWAD, announced that the foundation will keep hosting "RUWAD’s Majlis" sessions. These gatherings aim to create new spaces for discussions about investment opportunities for young Emirati men and women. The goal is to encourage direct interaction between these young people and organizations that support entrepreneurship in Sharjah. It also aims to foster the exchange of ideas and experiences among all involved.

Al Ali emphasized that RUWAD is dedicated to showcasing a variety of topics that focus on important economic areas. One of the highlighted sectors is fisheries, which plays a vital role in the UAE’s economy. The session aims to educate young attendees about the opportunities within this sector and explain the support and funding options available to help turn their ideas into real and sustainable businesses. She pointed out that entrepreneurship isn’t just about traditional markets, but also includes new and innovative fields that help ensure food security and support environmental and economic sustainability. Through these sessions, the hope is to build partnerships between entrepreneurs, investors, and relevant government bodies to boost investment in this crucial economic sector.

Supporting food security

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, Chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority, highlighted that one of the main goals of the Authority is to enhance community understanding and opportunities in the fishing industry. This is important because fishing plays a key role in ensuring food security and boosting the local economy.

He shared that an upcoming event will focus on teaching the community about investing in fishing and encouraging related economic activities. The session will also showcase government services and initiatives that help people get involved in this important sector. There will be an open discussion where attendees can ask questions and share their thoughts with representatives from different organizations. This approach aims to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors, ultimately supporting the growth and sustainability of fishing in Sharjah.
