Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Scouts Commission hosted the closing ceremony of the 2025 second recreational summer scout camp yesterday evening. The event celebrated the success of the weeks-long programme, which effectively met its educational and entertainment goals. The camp saw broad participation from children aged 7 to 12, alongside the attendance of parents, guests, and several scout and educational leaders.

Organisation and support

This camp was organised under the gracious directives and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The event was executed and overseen by His Excellency Nasser Obaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Commission Board and international commissioner, and Major General Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, General Supervisor of activities.

 

Programme objectives

The programme was designed to enhance young participants' skills and develop their personalities, making productive use of their summer holiday in a safe environment full of learning and positive interaction.

 

Ceremony highlights

The event began with an exhibition of handicrafts by the participants, showcasing their skills and creativity across various fields, adding an artistic dimension to the occasion. The ceremony opened with the UAE national anthem, followed by a Qur’anic recitation by cub Yusuf Alaa Eldin. Scout leader Adel Mohammed Karam, the camp’s scout instructor, welcomed the attendees, expressing delight at the camp’s great success, commending the positive involvement of parents and the efforts of the training and supervisory team. He emphasised that the summer programme aligns with Sharjah Scouts Commission’s plans to achieve comprehensive development of youth and instil noble scouting values, supported by the wise leadership prioritising young people in the national and educational agenda.

 

Participants’ reflections

Rand Al Hariri spoke on behalf of the children, expressing their happiness with the camp and the variety of activities offered. She highlighted the benefits gained from scouting workshops, sports, and arts programmes and thanked the Commission management and trainers, who served as role models and inspirations throughout the programme.

A comprehensive video showcased the camp’s stages, activities, workshops, and field visits, impressing attendees and demonstrating the rich educational outcomes gained by participants, alongside documentary footage capturing daily engagement from participants and supervisory staff.

 

Recognition and awards

In an interactive atmosphere with parents present, the ceremony honoured diligent parents who closely followed their children’s progress during the camp, recognising their educational role and active partnership in its success. Supervisory and training teams were also honoured for their expertise and contributions. Outstanding participants were awarded gold medals, trophies, and certificates, with parents personally presenting prizes, adding a heartfelt educational and human touch that reflects the Commission’s goal of linking family with scouting education.

The event concluded with commemorative photos of supervisors, participants, and parents, marking a joyful celebration of teamwork, success, and achievement.

 

Feedback and impact

A specially prepared survey for camp closure gathered parents’ opinions and suggestions. The results showed high satisfaction with the programme, praising the variety of activities, good organisation, and quality training. This reflects the effectiveness of the camp’s implementation plan and its success in fulfilling Sharjah Scouts Commission’s aspirations to build responsible, creative generations committed to their national and scouting values.
