Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has successfully completed electricity connections for 1,442 projects across various sectors in the city of Sharjah during the first half of 2025. Over 243 kilometers of low- and medium-voltage cables were laid across the city. These efforts are part of SEWA’s ongoing commitment to delivering top-tier services to residents and streamlining procedures after completing inspections and meeting all safety and security requirements.

Commitment to service quality and safety

Engineer Ahmed Al Bass, Deputy Director of the Electricity Distribution Department, explained that SEWA is constantly working to enhance the quality of its services. The authority ensures electricity is connected to residential, commercial, and industrial buildings across Sharjah according to the highest standards, once construction is completed and permanent electricity connection requests are submitted.

Smart meters and digital transformation

Al Bass highlighted that the expansion and replacement of smart meters align with SEWA’s digital transformation strategy. The use of smart devices and applications is helping to modernize projects and improve service delivery for Sharjah’s residents.

Ongoing network development across all areas

He also noted that SEWA continues to upgrade electrical networks in various areas of Sharjah—whether residential, commercial, or industrial—to maximize their efficiency and deliver the best possible services to both citizens and residents of the emirate.
