Launch of Ithmar 7 programme with workshop to train podcast hosts

Al Raisi explained that the first workshop, titled "Speech and Voice-over Skills," aims to prepare participants for podcasting. The workshop was held at the Business Centre of Sharjah Media City (Shams).

Mona Al Raisi, Editor-in-Chief of "Akhbar Al Dar" at SBA, announced on Monday the launch of the seventh edition of the "Ithmar" programme. The programme, organised by the Sharjah Press Club of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), began with a workshop on "Speech and Voice-over Skills." The workshop is the first in a series of workshops aimed at honing participants' skills and preparing them to enter the world of podcasting professionally.

Voice as a Speaker's Identity

Speaking exclusively to "Sharjah 24," Mona Al Raisi explained that the workshop focused on utilising the voice as a speaker's identity. Al Raisi noted that the training included introducing participants to their vocal potential, how to choose the most appropriate pitch, and vocal warm-up exercises and proper breathing techniques.

Al Raisi added that the training programme included practical exercises that illustrated the differences between news reading, reporting, and conducting spontaneous dialogues, as well as performing individually in front of the camera and duo performances in interactive programmes.

Importance of the Voice

The editor-in-chief of Akhbar Al Dar indicated that the methodology is gradual, with participants going through several stages that highlight the importance of voice in building a trusting relationship with the audience. Once a student understands and utilises their vocal potential, they are able to convey ideas and persuade listeners.
