Sharjah 24: The Sharjah government media authorities have unveiled a rich and engaging agenda of events, activities, interactive sessions, training workshops and debates as part of their participation in the third Global Media Congress, being held in Abu Dhabi from November 26 to 28.
Leading media stakeholders of the emirate, the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, and Sharjah Media City (Shams), are set to organise as many as 21 interactive sessions, training workshops and debates over three days.

The Sharjah government media entities’ participation agenda is diverse in line with the emirate’s special profile and the keenness to showcase its vibrant media, cultural, knowledge and investment projects and institutions, combining a rich past with ambitious goals and aspirations for the present and the future.

The diverse offerings include the pioneering role of the Emirate of Sharjah in the education sector, its numerous opportunities in the investment and agricultural sectors, ongoing empowerment of youth, effective communication models offered by Sharjah government institutions, stimulation of innovation and creativity, and the quality of content and opportunities provided by artificial intelligence in the media sector.

Keeping pace with developments in the media sector
His Excellency Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, noted that the agenda of the emirate’s media institutions has been evolving in sync with the changes in the media sector and in line with Sharjah's media vision known for its vitality, growth and keenness to employ modern tools and technologies in producing distinguished, world-class media content.

The Global Media Congress offers an ideal platform for dialogue and exchange of knowledge and expertise about the media sector in its various visual, audio and print forms, Khalaf stressed.

Showcasing Sharjah’s media identity and infrastructure
His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, stressed the strong participation of the Sharjah government media institutions in the Global Media Congress once again stems from the Emirate’s keenness to showcase its distinguished media experience, strong communication system and media identity. 

“The Global Media Congress is an excellent opportunity to highlight the successive achievements of the emirate that have established its position on the regional and global map while examining and discussing ideas that serve the UAE media sector and support the vision and path of development and excellence,” pointed out Allay.

The Abu Dhabi media summit has emerged as one of the most important industry events in the region and around the world, he added.

Showcasing Creative Opportunities 
His Excellency Rashid Abdullah Al Obed, Director of Shams, highlighted the city’s dedication to supporting media professionals and enthusiasts by showcasing the services and opportunities it provides. This is in line with Sharjah’s vision to encourage creativity and innovation across various sectors. He emphasised that the various programmes organised by Shams during the event aim to enhance public knowledge, support professional development, and equip participants with essential skills to keep pace with developments in the media industry. Al Obed also noted that Shams Studios, a key project underway, is set to become a leading hub for creativity in the region.

Innovation and Scientific Journalism
The Sharjah Pavilion at the Abu Dhabi Congress will host a dialogue session entitled "From Innovation to Application: Education in Sharjah is a Pioneering Global Model", featuring Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashmi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Head of the Sharjah Education Academy, HE Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Human Resources Department, and Dr. Mohamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah. Media figure Dr. Abdul Salam Al Hammadi will moderate the session.

Another important session entitled "Scientific Journalism in the Arab Media", will see the participation of Hussein Al Moosawi, Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Al Arabiya, and Abdul Latif Al Sayegh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Sayegh Media Company. Media Professional Mariam Fikri will moderate the session.

Government storytelling
The Sharjah pavilion will also host "A Reading in the Book of Government Storytelling" session, to be presented by Prof Dr. Mohammed Ayish of the American University of Sharjah, a Member of the Academic Committee of the International Government Communication Forum.

Besides, the emirate’s stand will showcase the Child Safety Department's experience in winning the Sharjah Government Communication Award in the category of Best Communication Targeting Youth.

His Excellency Hanadi Al Yafei, Director General of the Child Safety Department in Sharjah, will shine the light on the efforts of the communication department in promoting the concepts of child safety and community awareness, with the help of an interactive session entitled "Transformation to Innovation" presented by the technology solutions expert, Ahmed Kamal.

Investment and Government Communication
The Sharjah Pavilion is scheduled to host a key session entitled "Integration between Agriculture and Investment: Sustainable Food Security" featuring Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Animal Resources in Sharjah, His Excellency Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah, and HE Hussein Mohammed Al Mahmoudi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park.

The debate entitled, "Media Specialisations: Academic Courses and the Labour Market" will feature Fadhila Al Muaini, President of the Emirates Journalists Association, and Dr. Abeer Al Najjar, Professor of Media at the American University of Sharjah. Journalist Waleed Al Asbahi will moderate the discussion.

Another interactive session entitled "Reading a Book: A Guide to Government Communication Governance" is presented by Professor Dr. Ahmed Farouk, a member of the Academic Committee of the International Government Communication Forum, explaining the basic concepts of government communication and the importance of governance in institutional processes.

Artificial Intelligence and Media

A reading of the book "Quality of Arabic Content in the Light of the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies... Professional Automated Content Creation" will be held by Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Zaher and Dr. Sherin Moussa, members of the Academic Committee of the International Government Communication Forum.

Another interactive session titled, "The Future of Artificial Intelligence in the Media", will be headlined by Moaz Saleh Al-Omari, CEO of AIZATION for Artificial Intelligence Services and Products. He will review the experience of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa), in winning the Sharjah Government Communication Award, in the category of Best Government Communication Targeting Youth, with Alia Saif Al-Shamsi, Head of Marketing at Sheraa, discussing the whole experience.

Yet another debate will feature graduates of the Ithmar media training program for children and youth, organised by the Sharjah Press Club, under the title "Social Communication and the New Generation: Platforms for Shaping or Destroying Values?"

Through the “Shams Talks” podcast, Shams presents a series of engaging discussions, alongside “Innovate with Shams” AI platform, which will explore the future of media content in the age of artificial intelligence.

Artefacts from Sharjah Museums
 
The Sharjah platform offers visitors of the Global Media Congress a glimpse into the Emirate’s rich cultural and scientific heritage through an exhibition organised by the Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) titled “Artefacts from Sharjah Museums.” This exhibition showcases the vibrant history of Sharjah and the UAE, providing a unique opportunity to explore the emirate’s heritage, where culture, science, and the different arts come together.

Empowerment and Training
In terms of training, SGMB, the Sharjah Media Academy under SBA and Shams are hosting a series of workshops that the latest developments in the media industry, including a workshop titled “Uses of Drones” which will introduce the public to various uses, categories, and components of drones.

Other attractions include a “Scenario Writing” workshop presented by screenwriter Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, a “Content Creation” workshop presented by trainer Younis Al Hosani, and a “Writing in Social Communication” training workshop presented by trainer Mohammed Sameh, a “Uses of Artificial Intelligence in the Media” workshop, a “Charisma Effect in the Media” workshop, a training workshop on the art of content creation with artificial intelligence by trainer Ahmed Khalifa, and an interactive workshop entitled “Media Platform as a Tool for Empowering Youth” presented by lecturer Fatima Al Blooshi.
