“Wet Banks” at Sharjah House of Poetry

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah House of Poetry, affiliated with the Sharjah Department of Culture, organised a poetry evening on Tuesday.

The evening featured poets Dr Abdullah Abu Shamais, Shaima Hassan, and Zakaria Mustafa. The evening was attended by poet Mohammed Abdullah Al Buraiki, director of the House, and a large crowd of critics, poets, and poetry lovers, who filled the theatre and engaged with the experiences and texts with enthusiasm and love.

The evening was hosted by Rana Al Asali, who welcomed the attendees and extended her deepest gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his contributions to Arab culture.

In the House of Poetry souls reside with joy

Al Asali also praised the role of the House of Poetry and the events it offers, which have attracted audience with exceptional performances. She said that souls reside with joy in the House of Poetry, where its halls are banks, its stage is a branch, its poets are singing birds, and the audience is the river that gives poetry flow and life.

The poets ascended to the stage to recite their poems. The opening was by Dr. Abdullah Abu Shamais, whose works revolve around current humanitarian issues, weaves rhetorical images from pain that touch the heart.

A bouquet of poems

Poet Shaima Al Hassan read a collection of poems that addressed personal and human concerns. In her poem, "What Is Not for Sale," she delves into the transformations of the human spirit, extracting meanings of love, longing, and nostalgia.

She also read another poem, titled "Metaphors of Love," which addressed the concept of writing and language, and their relationship to the spirit of poetry.

Finally, poet Mohammed Al Buraiki honoured the participating poets and the evening's host.
