Recent incident underscores the risks

Her Excellency Hanadi Al Yafei, Director of the Child Safety Department, commented, “We followed with deep sadness the incident of a child falling from a vehicle while being driven by his guardian, resulting in painful injuries. We ask God to grant him a speedy recovery. Such painful incidents remind us of the importance of taking proactive steps that can mean the difference between safety and danger in seconds.”

Seat belts and child seats can save lives

She added, “Failure to properly secure a child in a vehicle using a seat belt, or not using the appropriate child safety seat, can lead to tragic consequences that could have been avoided and could have saved the lives of our children.”

Ongoing awareness campaigns

Hanadi Al Yafei continued, “At the Child Safety Department, we believe that protecting children begins the moment they sit inside a vehicle. That’s why we have continued our awareness efforts for years through initiatives such as the ‘Protect Them with Your Commitment’ campaign, which focuses on the importance of using appropriate seats, fastening seat belts, and activating door locks.”

A call to action for all caregivers

She concluded by urging: “From this platform, we call on all parents and drivers accompanying children to take proactive steps to ensure their children’s safety and not to compromise on preventative measures. A few moments of attention and care could save your child’s life.”
