Saif Karam's achievement came during his participation as part of the national delegation sponsored by the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
Saif Karam received this prestigious award from the American Chemical Society (ACS), one of the world's largest scientific societies supporting scientific research in chemistry. His project, which adds to the UAE's record of innovation, highlights Saif's ingenuity in developing a classification of new materials used to convert carbon dioxide into valuable multi-carbon compounds, opening up broad prospects for application and use in the fields of industry and sustainable energy.
This achievement reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, regarding the importance of building generations who innovate in all fields to preserve the richness and diversity of human production. It also embodies the prominent pioneering role of the Rubu' Qarn Foundation in empowering future generations to lead the future.
This achievement is the culmination of concerted efforts, constructive cooperation, and an effective partnership between the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators and the Ministry of Education, which is always keen to cooperate with all its partners to showcase their talents and scientific capabilities in international forums, enhancing the competitiveness of future generations in various fields.
The Ministry also supports leading national universities, which contributed to providing a supportive scientific environment that helped participants develop their research projects according to the highest international academic standards.
Saif completed his project with academic support from the University of Sharjah, while being introduced to performing theoretical calculations on high-performance computing (HPC) systems, enhancing the accuracy of results and raising the scientific efficiency of the project.
Khalifa University played a pivotal role in enabling Saif Karam to complete his project and experiments. He worked under the direct supervision of Dr. Sharmarke Mohamed, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Head of the Chemical Crystallography Laboratory (CCL) at Khalifa University, along with his team in the university's Chemistry Department, who provided comprehensive academic supervision during the preparation of the scientific paper.
This included the implementation of computational and experimental research conducted in the university's laboratories, including theoretical calculations using density function theory (DFT) on high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
In a gesture of appreciation, His Excellency Jassim Al Beloushi, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, and His Excellency Mohammed Abdul Qader, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Strategy Sector at the Ministry of Education, received Saif Karam and the national delegation participating in the ISEF 2025 exhibition.
The ceremony was held in recognition of their scientific excellence, which has placed the UAE on the map of global scientific achievements at a prestigious international forum.
Saif Karam's success is the result of fruitful cooperation and integration between the Rubu' Qarn Science and Technology Centre, affiliated with the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, the Ministry of Education, and a number of educational institutions. This embodies the shared vision of preparing a creative generation capable of competing and honourably representing the UAE in the most prestigious international forums.
Through its programmes, partnerships, and initiatives, the Rubu' Qarn Foundation continues its efforts to empower future generations scientifically, build a generation of scientists and innovators capable of contributing to the UAE's knowledge development journey, and consolidate its leading position in scientific research and innovation.
