Sharjah 24: The National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) paid an inspection visit to a workers' accommodation site in the Emirate of Sharjah as part of its regular visits to monitor workers' conditions and ensure they fully exercise their rights under national legislation and international human rights conventions.

NHRI delegation and purpose of visit

Nur Al Suwaidi, a member of the NHRI Board of Trustees, led the tour, accompanied by fellow board members Mohammed Al Hammadi, Dr Abdulaziz Al Noman, and Dr Saeed Al Ghafli, the NHRI's secretary general, along with several NHRI personnel and labour rights technical experts.

Engaging with workers on the ground

During the visit, the delegation held several side sessions with residents to listen to their concerns regarding living and working conditions. These discussions aimed to assess real-life situations and suggest solutions to strengthen and safeguard workers' rights across the country.

NHRI’s continued commitment to labour rights

Maqsoud Kruse, NHRI Chairman, affirmed the institution’s ongoing commitment to labour rights, highlighting that this third visit aligns with its strategy of field engagement to ensure safe work environments and uphold workers’ dignity. He emphasized that NHRI will continue such visits nationwide to promote justice, human dignity, and a strong human rights culture.
