Andre told “Sharjah 24” that the show featured the work of Year 2, 3, and 4 costume design students, with special performances and contributions from alumni. It brought garments to life through a dynamic blend of dance, music, and storytelling. “This is a rare and special experience,” Forde shared. “All the costumes were designed by our students, and it’s incredible to see their work come alive on stage.”
Spanning styles from elegant 18th-century gowns to avant-garde paper dresses and striking contemporary designs, Threads of Time showcased the transformative power of costume to express identity, heritage, and creativity. With over 400 people in attendance, the evening was a true celebration of artistic collaboration and community spirit.
The event also featured live performances from alumni and a full band, adding another layer of depth and energy to the production. Forde praised the night’s atmosphere and encouraged aspiring designers to consider joining the Academy: “If you’re interested in studying here, you’ll study costume design with me and be part of this amazing creative community.”
More than just a fashion show, Threads of Time was a vibrant tribute to storytelling through design, capturing the heart of Sharjah’s flourishing arts scene.
