Sharjah 24: Dr Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of the Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS), welcomed Dr Mohammed bin Saud Al Muqbil, Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), during an official visit aimed at strengthening ties and reviewing the centre’s progress for the 2025–2026 cycle. The visit underscores efforts to enhance cooperation between the bureau and its affiliated bodies to support the Arabic language as a core pillar of Arab-Islamic identity and culture.

Tour of key facilities and programmes

The visit began with a comprehensive tour of the centre’s facilities at University City in Sharjah, including its specialised library. Dr Al Muqbil reviewed the latest digital cataloguing and protection systems as well as recent research outputs. Highlights included frameworks for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, international assessment benchmarks, and resources focused on developing reading comprehension and creative language production in general education.

Showcasing cultural depth and academic impact

Dr Al Muqbil also explored the permanent Arabic Language Exhibition, which features interactive digital displays and showcases on classical poets, linguistic scholars, and major literary achievements. He later toured the training halls and theatre, and attended a video presentation outlining the centre’s achievements since its founding in 2013, including research, training, conferences, and seminars.

Praise for Sharjah’s support and vision

At the end of the visit, Dr Al Muqbil praised the centre’s accomplishments and the dedication of its team, noting the advanced level it had reached in a short time. He also extended his deep appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for his steadfast support of the centre and his leading cultural and educational vision to promote the Arabic language regionally and globally.
