Sharjah 24: Last night, the Sharjah Arab Cultural Club hosted a captivating exhibition showcasing Arabic calligraphy, titled "Maarij Al Harf." Several talented calligraphers participated, including Khalifa Al Shaimi, Musab Al Douri, Zaid Al Azami, Jalal Al Muharib, and Hossam Abdel Wahab.

The exhibition highlighted the deep meanings of Ramadan through creative calligraphy, featuring works inspired by verses from the Quran, honorable sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, and various poetic expressions. The aim was to promote values such as faith, kindness, submission to God, tolerance, and the improvement of one’s character.

Visitors to the exhibition could see an impressive collection of traditional Arabic calligraphy along with decorative art and gilding. There were also contemporary pieces, where artists played with colors and letter arrangements, creating beautiful visual effects that drew in the audience.

After the opening, the participating artists shared their experiences and techniques. Khalifa Al Shaimi, who is in charge of artistic activities at the club, expressed that the exhibition seeks to strengthen the relationship between calligraphy and the spirit of Ramadan— a time dedicated to worship and faith. He pointed out that calligraphy originated from a faith-based environment and has influenced many art forms.

Jalal Al Muharib, a calligrapher and teacher at the Sharjah Department of Culture, emphasized the special bond between calligraphy and religious moments. He stressed the importance of mastering traditional calligraphy first, so that artists can express their spirituality in new and creative ways.

Hossam Abdel Wahab, another talented calligrapher, showcased both traditional and experimental pieces. He shared his passion for documenting emotions through letters and colors, capturing the essence of feelings in his work.

Zaid Al Aazami, who is an accomplished calligrapher and educator, praised Arabic calligraphy as a unique achievement of Arab culture that must be supported and recognized. He emphasized that everyone, especially intellectuals and artists, has a role in promoting this art form, and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the exhibition.

Dr. Mohammed Al Amin Al Samlali, a calligrapher and linguist, remarked that holding the exhibition during Ramadan is fitting, as Arabic calligraphy is integral to Arab-Islamic identity. He noted that this art is continuously evolving, combining traditional styles with modern artistic expressions.

Finally, calligrapher Mohammed Al Nouri thanked the club for hosting these talented artists, recognizing it as a vital platform for nurturing and showcasing calligraphy through various events, workshops, and lectures.
