Sharjah24: The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) continues to host interactive sessions alongside collective Iftar gatherings as part of its Fatterhum project, a key initiative under the Zakki Ramadan campaign. These efforts are designed to offer psychological and social support to orphans and their families.

Incorporating mental and emotional well-being into its Ramadan initiatives, SSEF organised specialised discussions led by experts. These sessions focused on topics such as coping with loss, its behavioural impact, and the importance of emotional support. Additionally, they explored post-traumatic growth, a concept that helps orphans develop resilience and inner strength after the loss of a parent. Participants expressed gratitude for having a safe space to share their experiences and receive professional guidance.

"Takhatti" project for psychological resilience

As part of its commitment to emotional well-being, SSEF implemented the Takhatti initiative, a series of rehabilitation workshops targeting orphans aged 6-18 years. These sessions provided early psychological intervention, fostered self-confidence and emotional indepe

ndence, and taught stress and anxiety management techniques. Led by mental health professionals, the workshops covered key areas such as coping with grief, behavioural adjustment, and positive thinking, empowering participants to navigate their challenges effectively.

Strengthening family bonds through "Ahl Al-Wudd"

SSEF continued its Ahl Al-Wudd initiative, which focuses on strengthening relationships between orphans and their extended families. By highlighting the significance of maintaining family ties, the programme aims to provide orphans with emotional security and a sense of belonging. The discussions underscored the positive impact of kinship on psychological and social stability, encouraging orphans to build meaningful connections with their paternal relatives.

"Sanad Al-Bayt" initiative for family responsibility

To foster independence and leadership skills, SSEF launched Sanad Al-Bayt, an initiative dedicated to empowering 14-18-year-old orphans to take on family responsibilities. The programme equips them with essential life skills, helping them become strong pillars of support for their families while developing resilience and confidence to face future challenges.

Comprehensive empowerment strategy

Nawal Al-Hammadi, Director of Social Welfare at SSEF, emphasised the importance of raising psychological and social awareness among orphans and their families. She highlighted that the sessions tackled critical issues, including coping with grief, the psychological effects of losing a parent, and ways to manage behavioural challenges.

Al-Hammadi explained that SSEF provided practical strategies to help orphans adapt to their circumstances and turn obstacles into opportunities for growth. She added that the collective Iftar gatherings were designed to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, reinforcing social bonds and a sense of belonging.

Additionally, SSEF introduced social initiatives aimed at strengthening family ties and encouraging community integration. The overwhelming response from participants demonstrated the positive impact of these efforts, as orphans and their families found comfort in sharing their experiences and gaining insights from experts.

She reaffirmed that these initiatives are part of the Zakki Ramadan campaign, which integrates economic, social, and psychological programmes. SSEF remains dedicated to launching sustainable initiatives that support orphans' emotional and social adaptation, ensuring their holistic empowerment.

Commitment to sustainable empowerment

These initiatives reflect SSEF’s ongoing commitment to orphan empowerment, ensuring they receive the necessary support to thrive. By providing a nurturing environment, the foundation enables orphans to develop the confidence, resilience, and skills needed to overcome life’s challenges.
