Sharjah24: Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) organised a Ramadan Majlis dedicated to women, under the title "So that we may be worthy of the answer", in the conference hall, at the Cultural Palace in Sharjah, with the attendance of 40 women, as part of promoting the spiritual and social values of the holy month of Ramadan.

The council hosted Dr. Samira Al Shizawi, Head of the Women's Preaching Department at the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah, who gave a lecture on the importance of supplication as the essence of worship and one of the pillars of drawing closer to God.

Supplication is worship

During the lecture, Dr. Al Shizawi focused on several main topics, most notably; supplication is worship and its importance in the life of a Muslim as a direct connection between the servant and their Lord. She also discussed the obstacles to answering and how a Muslim can avoid them to achieve a response to the supplication, in addition to the etiquette of supplication and its greatest virtues, while emphasising the importance of presenting etiquette and evoking intention and contemplation before supplication.

Al Shizawi also discussed the times and places where supplications are answered, such as the times of prostration and the Nights of Qadr (Last ten days of Ramadan), as well as the types of supplications in prayer and their locations that enhance their spiritual impact.

Al Shizawi stressed the importance of humility and contemplation during supplication, noting that supplication is not just words that are said, but rather a direct communication with God Almighty that requires sincerity and certainty of the answer, and is also an effective means of achieving psychological reassurance.

SAVW Message

In this context, Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of SAVW, confirmed that organising Ramadan councils comes within the award’s strategy to enhance the values of giving and goodness during the holy month.

Al Belushi indicated that such events represent a unique opportunity to gain spiritual knowledge and share experiences and expertise, and SAVW is keen to create platforms that bring together members of society to exchange ideas and enhance the values of positivity and cooperation, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, which is an exceptional occasion to consolidate these principles.

Consolidating community values and spreading the culture of volunteering

Al Belushi added that this Majlis is part of the award’s efforts to direct activities and events towards consolidating community values and spreading the culture of volunteering and charity, seeking to strengthen social ties, and enhancing belief in the ability of supplication to achieve psychological reassurance and spiritual balance in the lives of individuals.

SAVW Executive Director praised the great interaction of the attendees and the closing session that addressed the attendees’ questions on the topics of supplication, with a focus on the need for such events to continue to achieve a deeper societal impact.
