Sharjah 24: Sharjah Women’s Sports Club made a remarkable impact at the Nad Al Sheba Ramadan Fencing Championship – Women's General Category (Épée), held on 2-3 February 2025. The event, which promotes both competitive spirit and inter-club engagement in a unique Ramadan atmosphere, featured 18 fencers from various clubs, including Abu Dhabi Fencing Club, Shabab Al Ahli Club, and Fujairah Martial Arts Club. The tournament aimed to foster community sports by offering fencers an ideal platform for competition, skill enhancement, and knowledge exchange.

Outstanding performances and podium finishes

Sharjah Women’s Sports Club fencers showcased impressive skill and determination throughout the championship. Al Anood Al Saadi secured the silver medal after a series of challenging bouts, while Sheikha Al Zaabi clinched the bronze medal with a strong performance in the knockout rounds. Their achievements reflected the club’s growing strength and the athletes’ continuous development. 

Expert insights and future aspirations

Head fencing coach Hassan Al Zouari praised the team’s performance, highlighting the significance of such events in shaping athletes' abilities. He stated: "This tournament provided a fantastic opportunity for our fencers to compete against strong opponents. The team demonstrated great competitive spirit, and I am very pleased with their dedication and progress. We will continue working on refining their tactics and boosting their confidence for upcoming competitions." 

Athletes reflect on their experience

Al Anood Al Saadi expressed her enthusiasm for the tournament, noting how it helped her adapt to different playing styles and enhance her skills. She said: "The championship was a great chance to test my abilities in an intense competitive setting. I focused entirely on my performance, which motivated me to refine my techniques and prepare for future challenges." 

Sheikha Al Zaabi, who excelled in the knockout rounds, shared her pride in reaching the podium: "This tournament was an invaluable experience. I competed against strong opponents and managed to secure a medal. The atmosphere was fantastic, and I will build on this to further improve my performance in future events." 

A dynamic and competitive sporting environment

The Nad Al Sheba Ramadan Fencing Championship provided fencers with an enriching experience, blending competition with community spirit. Bringing together some of the UAE’s top talents, the event fostered a highly competitive setting that challenged participants, enhanced their skills, and fuelled their passion for the sport.
