Sharjah 24: The Ramadan atmosphere has been revived at Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club with the launch of the 6th Ramadan Gathering, which began yesterday evening. The event is filled with an array of programmes and activities that reflect the essence of the holy month, promoting a sense of community and togetherness. The gathering includes a mix of sports competitions and cultural activities, which aim to create a balance between spiritual values and physical fitness. These activities embody the club's mission to offer engaging and enjoyable events that provide both benefit and entertainment.

‘Sports before Iftar’ programme

One of the standout features of the gathering is the "Sports before Iftar" programme, which allows participants to engage in physical activity in a Ramadan-friendly environment. The initiative encourages exercise before Iftar time, promoting healthy habits and a balanced lifestyle during the fasting month.

Annual volleyball tournament

The annual volleyball tournament also adds excitement to the gathering, with teams engaging in lively competition. This tournament brings a distinct sports atmosphere to the Ramadan nights, contributing to the festive spirit of the season.

Quran competition

On the cultural front, the Al Dhaid Quran Competition holds a significant place in the gathering. It continues to be a success, attracting participants from various age groups. The competition fosters a spirit of healthy rivalry in the recitation and memorisation of the Holy Quran, helping to instil its noble teachings and values among the younger generation.

Shooting championship: a revived tradition

The shooting championship is another key highlight of the event, with a broad participation, particularly from senior citizens and young people. The competition offers an opportunity to revive a sporting tradition that emphasises precision and focus, set against the backdrop of the Ramadan challenge.

A reflection of community values

His Excellency Salem Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Club, stated that the Ramadan Gathering is a prime example of the community role played by sports clubs, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. He explained that the activities hosted by the club contribute to fostering a dynamic environment where culture and sport come together, promoting intergenerational communication in a setting of goodwill and brotherhood that aligns with the values of Ramadan.

Gratitude for Supporters of the Gathering

Khalifa Mubarak bin Dalmouk Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Cultural Committee at Al Dhaid Club, praised the vital role the gathering plays in attracting diverse segments of society through activities that encourage both personal growth and healthy competition. He expressed gratitude for the support from the Sharjah Sports Council, the Sharjah Quranic Foundation, and all other supportive organisations, whose contributions have ensured the continued success of this distinguished annual event.
