Sharjah24: According to the committee's report, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society and a member of the Moon Sighting Committee for the Month of Ramadan in the Year 1446 Hijri, which is affiliated with the UAE Fatwa Council, announced that Saturday, March 1, will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan. The committee met in the ancient Al Hosn location in Abu Dhabi.
Al Jarwan said that the committee began its moon-sighting operations after sunset on Friday at four astronomical observation locations around the country where the crescent moon could be seen. The committee declared the sighting and congratulated the UAE's government and people on the occasion of the beautiful month of Ramadan.
