"March Meeting: In Our Journeys, Songs" Kicks Off on March 7

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Art Foundation is set to host the 17th edition of the March Meeting, taking place from March 7 to 9 at Al Qasimia School in Sharjah. This year’s edition coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, allowing many of the month’s values to be reflected throughout the event. The meeting also runs alongside Sharjah Biennial 16: Our Journeys, which began on February 6, featuring over 650 artworks by approximately 200 participants, including more than 200 new commissions.

Diverse Program Highlights

The program includes panel discussions, performances, and musical events, focusing on collective work and cultural heritage. The first day begins with an opening session, followed by the second day’s highlight—a sound experience by Mara TK, incorporating Maori music and interdisciplinary sound art. Additional discussions will explore Aboriginal art, Adivasi futurism, and the impact of modernity on nature. The final sessions will examine economic and linguistic transformations, leading to a closing musical performance.

Gathering and Reflection

Each day of the March Meeting 2025 will feature discussions celebrating the power of gathering and mutual support. The event will conclude daily with shared meals and musical performances, embracing the spirit of Ramadan and fostering moments of cultural exchange and artistic inspiration.
