Sharjah24: Sharjah is preparing to participate in the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) Berlin, the world's largest travel trade event, taking place from March 4 to 6, 2025. Under the Sharjah Pavilion, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) will be joined by 19 entities from both the public and private sectors in the emirate.

Diverse Tourism Offerings

The delegation will highlight Sharjah’s diverse tourism offerings, covering hospitality, cultural, entertainment, environmental, and adventure experiences. The participation underscores Sharjah’s commitment to strengthening its position as a premier tourism destination in the region.

Commitment to Excellence

His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, stated: “Our participation in ITB Berlin 2025 reaffirms our dedication to enhancing Sharjah’s status as a leading tourism destination. Through strategic partnerships and innovative initiatives, we highlight Sharjah’s role in supporting sustainable and responsible tourism while offering exceptional and enriching experiences.”

Government and Private Sector

The Sharjah delegation includes representatives from key government entities, such as the Environment and Protected Areas Authority, Sharjah International Airport Authority, Sharjah Museums Authority, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sharjah Institute for Heritage, Sharjah Sports Council, Sharjah Classic Cars Club, and the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club.

Private Sector Engagement

Participating private sector entities include Air Arabia, Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA), Arada Real Estate Development, Sharjah National Hotels, Coral Beach Resort Sharjah, Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa, Occidental Sharjah Grand, Golden Sands Hotel Sharjah, Golden Tulip Hotel Sharjah, and travel publication TravTalk.

Strengthening Global Presence

This participation aims to enhance Sharjah’s global presence, promote its diverse tourism products, and position the emirate as a leading family and leisure destination. It also seeks to strengthen collaborations with industry leaders, explore new tourism opportunities in the European market, and particularly expand ties with the German tourism sector.

European Market Growth

Sharjah has witnessed significant growth in European hotel guests, with a 16% increase from 88,000 guests in 2023 to 102,000 in 2024. The German market holds special importance, with 13,000 German visitors in 2024, marking an 11% increase from 12,000 in 2023. Sharjah aims to sustain this growth and further expand its visitor numbers in the coming years.
