Recently, 33 orphans benefitted from the program, and there are plans to extend intensive workshops to 50 more in the coming months. The initiative seeks to improve the mental well-being of orphans and assist them in overcoming the psychological trauma resulting from the loss of a father.
Early psychological support for different age groups
The workshops aimed at orphans aged 6to18, concentrating on enhancing their coping skills and encouraging healthy emotional expression. The sessions focused on early psychological intervention to enhance self-confidence, promote emotional independence, and create a safe environment for open dialogue. The project is in harmony with research on psychological risks that arise after trauma and is designed to cater to various age groups.
Fostering resilience and self-confidence
The workshops included engaging activities, guidance, and learning programs designed to assist children in managing everyday challenges and enhancing their self-esteem. The workshops, led by experts in psychology and social work, addressed a range of topics, such as stress management, techniques for coping with anxiety, building self-confidence, fostering positive thinking, expressing emotions healthily, processing loss, strategies for social relationships, psychological support, and behavioural adjustments.
Commitment to sustainable psychological empowerment
Nawal Al Hamdi, Director of Social Welfare at SSEF, expressed: "We reaffirm our commitment to delivering specialised initiatives that promote the psychological and social well-being of orphans." These workshops are integral to our sustainable initiatives focused on empowering orphans psychologically. Our organisation is committed to mental health and implements customised programs as part of a holistic strategy to support individuals and their families. This initiative is essential for ensuring their well-being, allowing them to express their emotions, develop life adaptation skills, and build self-confidence.
She highlighted the importance of early psychological support in facilitating a healthy and effective adjustment to life changes following a loss. “Takhatta represents more than a fleeting effort; it embodies a genuine journey of empowerment, providing orphans with the essential resources to thrive as successful, independent, and contributing members of society.”
Positive response and continuous empowerment efforts
Participants demonstrated significant enthusiasm, sharing how the workshops equipped them with practical tools to enhance their mental health and resilience in confronting life’s challenges. SSEF remains committed to orphan empowerment initiatives, allocating substantial resources to psychological support programs. These initiatives assist in reducing stress, improving adaptation skills, and providing a thorough and sustainable support system for enhanced mental well-being.
