Sharjah24: Sharjah Airport (SA) has announced its participation in the 10th edition of UAE Innovation Month 2025, showcasing its "Self-Travel" project. Sara Al Harmoudi, Customer Relations Officer at Sharjah Airport, has announced that the project features the integration of smart e-gates alongside an intelligent inquiry kiosk. The kiosk offers detailed flight and facility information, enabling passengers to connect with customer service representatives through a voice call, thereby enhancing their travel experience.

The initiative seeks to optimise the passenger experience from the moment they enter the airport until they board their flight, using cutting-edge digital technologies to improve efficiency and minimize wait times.

Digital Boarding Process

She stated that the passengers can now conveniently get their boarding passes electronically through their mobile phones, thanks to the Self-Travel system. Smart gates enable easy entry by removing the necessity for manual check-ins, thereby eliminating queues and decreasing dependence on airport personnel.

Seamless Immigration Clearance

Al Harmoudi noted that when arriving at the immigration checkpoint, passengers have the option to use the smart e-gate by scanning their boarding pass and passport on the digital reader, which is then followed by an iris scan. This method enables quick and efficient clearance, providing travelers with an electronic stamp, eliminating the necessity for physical documents.

Comprehensive Passenger Assistance

The Customer Relations Officer has announced the launch of the Smart Inquiry Kiosk at the airport, a complete service station designed to offer passengers important details. Travelers can easily locate their boarding gates, explore airport facilities, and access various areas through this kiosk. The kiosk provides a live voice call feature for direct assistance, enabling passengers to connect instantly with a customer service representative for prompt support and swift answers to their questions.
