Al Hamriyah Municipality celebrates Haq Al Laila

Sharjah 24: Al Hamriyah Municipality organised, on Thursday, a number of activities to celebrate Haq Al Laila event (the 15th night of Sha’ban in the Islamic calendar), which was distinguished by its diversity and aesthetics, as it included a series of enjoyable segments and exciting activities, which were widely appreciated by the attendees, held in the East District Ladies Park in Al Hamriyah.

Preserving Emirati traditions

As part of its tireless efforts, Al Hamriyah Municipality seeks to strengthen social ties and communication between members of society, while preserving the inherited Emirati and popular customs and traditions, with the aim of enriching the experience of new generations and enhancing the values of belonging and loyalty to the homeland and society.

The celebration of Al Hamriyah Municipality included distributing sweets to children and women, in addition to holding many competitions and entertaining games for children, setting up a photography corner and another corner for henna, in addition to providing carts dedicated to serving popular foods, which were met with overwhelming joy and happiness from the children and mothers participating in the events, enjoying the atmosphere of this special day with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.

His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, said that the Municipality is keen to revive this occasion, which is one of the municipality’s annual events, because it represents a heritage occasion closely linked to the beautiful past, and that Al Hamriyah Municipality seeks through it to connect new generations with the vocabulary of the past that enriches their present and increases their adherence to their ancient roots, and to preserve the inherited Emirati and popular customs and traditions

Artistic and heritage workshops

Al Shamsi added that the municipality’s initiatives and activities held by Al Hamriyah Municipality employees from the national staff supervising the East District Ladies Park in Al Hamriyah were met with great success, and included a wide range of artistic and heritage workshops that suit the targeted age groups, and the children lived enjoyable and entertaining experiences, in addition to holding exciting popular and motivational competitions that the participating children interacted with.

In a related context, Al Shamsi confirmed that the municipality held an internal event targeting the functional staff from municipal departments and sections, which included the distribution of "Haq Al Laila", aiming to enhance the quality of work life for Al Hamriyah Municipality employees, providing them with the opportunity to participate in authentic heritage events.

Communicate with all community groups

Al Shamsi concluded by saying that the main goal of the events is to participate and communicate with all community groups and make all participants happy, especially children, and encourage them to the heritage of their ancestors and consolidate authentic Emirati customs, pointing out Al Hamriyah Municipality's keenness to revive this occasion annually, as it represents a heritage occasion closely linked to the popular heritage in the UAE.
