The gathering is an important global event organised in cooperation with the Emirates Scout Association and the Arab Scout Organisation in the Arab Scout Region and international organisations.
The 10th International Scout Gathering enjoys a distinguished position as a platform that brings together scout associations from various scout regions around the world, including the Arab, African, Asian, European, American, and Pacific regions.
The gathering is expected to contribute to enhancing the values of cooperation and mutual understanding among global scouts, and deepening the concept of sustainable development, which is a major focus of many global initiatives.
A series of preparatory meetings were held at the headquarters of the Sharjah Scouts Commission, in the presence of the leaders of the Commission and the organising committees, headed by Major General Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Scouts Commission; Adel Sharaf, Commander-in-Chief of the gathering; and Abdulrahman Abdullah Jaber, General Coordinator of the Committees.
An expanded meeting was held on Monday, during which work plans were reviewed and roles were distributed to ensure that the event is well organised, in accordance with the highest international standards.
In his speech, Major General Al Suwaidi pointed out the importance of the event, stressing that the gathering represents a bridge of communication between scouts from all over the world, and reflects the vision of the Ruler of Sharjah in supporting the scouting movement and promoting the concept of sustainable development.
Al Suwaidi added that Sharjah Scouts Commission has worked over the past months to develop a well-thought-out field plan, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to provide all the necessary needs for the participating guests, including transportation, food, and accompanying activity programmes.
Major General Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Scouts Commission, explained that the Commission, in parallel with the preparations, announces the registration of a large number of participants from different countries of the world.
The working committees are working to complete the preparations to ensure providing an ideal experience for the participants, starting from the moment they are received until the end of the events amidst a great and global welcome.
Al Suwaidi pointed out that the gathering represents an opportunity to convey Sharjah's message to the world, as a city that supports scouting and international cooperation, and a major centre for exchanging experiences and development initiatives. The event confirms the commitment of the UAE and the Emirate of Sharjah to support the scouting movement and enhance the concepts of sustainable coexistence and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, relationship and love and exchange experiences and knowledge among the world's scouts, in addition to introducing the United Arab Emirates in general and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular and standing on the tourism and urban renaissance and progress witnessed by the UAE.
Regarding the slogan of the gathering, Al Suwaidi explained that the gathering bears the slogan "Scouting and Sustainable Development", which is evident in the details of the programme that will focus on raising awareness of sustainability, encouraging the application of environmental standards such as recycling, reducing resource consumption, and promoting the personal use of sustainable tools. This trend is an extension of the UAE's vision to achieve sustainability, especially in the Emirate of Sharjah, which has become a global model in this field.
Regarding the accompanying events, Al Suwaidi said during the meeting that the activities are diverse during the presence of international delegations, including visits, workshops, and field visit programmes to prominent landmarks across the UAE, reflecting the depth of Emirati culture and heritage. Field visit programmes will be an opportunity to introduce participants to the values of scouting in promoting the concepts of sustainability and cultural communication, in addition to organising an accompanying exhibition with international specifications, in which participants will display their experiences and initiatives in scouting and sustainable development.
The Commander-in-Chief of the gathering, Adel Sharaf, stressed the importance of teamwork to achieve the success of the gathering, noting that continuous communication as one team is the main factor that ensures the implementation of all details of the programme with the highest efficiency.
Sharaf also praised the positive interaction of the heads and members of the committees during the meetings, who provided their opinions and suggestions to present a distinguished version of the International Scout gathering.
