Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) in the UAE has initiated an investigation into potential contamination of Beef Pepperoni with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The ministry is collaborating with local regulatory bodies and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority to address the issue.

Product withdrawal from UAE markets

As part of precautionary measures, MoCCAE has coordinated with the producing company to withdraw the affected Beef Pepperoni from UAE markets. The withdrawal will remain in effect until laboratory results confirm the details of the contamination.

MoCCAE's commitment to food safety

Dr. Mohammed Salman Al Hamadi, Assistant Undersecretary for Food Diversity at MoCCAE, assured that the ministry is working closely with various authorities to enforce the highest food safety standards. The investigations are being prioritized to ensure the safety of consumers, with additional samples being collected for testing.

Ongoing monitoring and coordination

MoCCAE continues to work with Gulf countries through the Gulf Rapid Alert System for Food (GRASF) to share information about health risks related to food products. This system ensures fast responses and strengthens the region's ability to protect consumer health.
