In her address, Dr. Al Dahak highlighted the UAE’s ambitious targets, including the goal to double its clean and renewable energy capacity as part of its Net Zero by 2050 Strategy. She emphasised the UAE Consensus established at COP28, which aims to triple renewable energy capacity and double energy efficiency by 2030.
The minister called on nations to strengthen their commitments, prioritise project flexibility, and incentivise private investment in clean energy. "The world is watching, and the time for action is now," Dr. Al Dahak stressed, urging global cooperation toward a sustainable energy future.
During the Assembly’s press conference, Dr. Al Dahak showcased the UAE's commitment to supporting developing nations through targeted investments such as ALTÉRRA, the world’s largest private climate investment fund, and the Africa Green Investment Initiative.
In addition to her formal address, Dr Al Dahak participated in the IRENA Youth Fireside Chat, where she encouraged young people to embrace opportunities in the renewable energy sector. She emphasised the importance of their unique perspectives and leadership potential in tackling climate challenges.
Through proactive diplomacy, renewable energy investments, and strategic partnerships, the UAE continues to play a pivotal role in driving the global energy transition forward, demonstrating its dedication to a sustainable future aligned with the UAE Consensus goals.
