Sharjah24 - WAM: Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to its leadership's vision of becoming a global leader in food security.
On the occasion of World Food Day, Dr. Amna said, "This year's theme 'Right to foods for a better life and a better future' resonates deeply with our nation's vision and aligns with the legacy of COP28 and the UAE Declaration on Resilient Food Systems, Sustainable Agriculture, and Climate Action. It amplifies the case for transforming food systems, making them equitable and accessible for all."

Dr. Al Dahak highlighted the UAE's proactive approach to revolutionising agriculture, citing initiatives like "AIM for Climate," a partnership with the United States. The country is also pioneering sustainable aquaculture and fisheries, maximising its resources responsibly and setting a global example.

"By encouraging our farmers and fishermen to adopt advanced technologies to boost productivity, we have not only enhanced our local food production but have done so in a climate-friendly way," said Dr. Al Dahak.

While the UAE continues to empower its food producers, Dr. Al Dahak urged communities to become more conscious food consumers. "We must take a whole-of-society approach in meeting our national goals and ensure that our nation remains steadfast in meeting our global pledges," she stated.

She noted that the newly launched "Plant the Emirates" National Programme and the "National Agricultural Centre" underscore the importance of collective efforts in bolstering agriculture as a pillar of the UAE's development. By bringing together public and private sectors, businesses, and communities, these initiatives aim to drive innovation, research, and development in addressing agricultural challenges.

"Let this World Food Day be a reminder to all of us that we can make a difference," said Dr. Al Dahak. "By reducing food waste, buying fresh local produce, and supporting our agricultural communities, we can contribute to a food-secure future for all. Together, let us lead the change and create a sustainable future for generations to come," she concluded.
