This morning, a meeting took place to get ready for the upcoming fourth session of the parliament. The opening session of this important event is set to happen in the middle of February.
Al Barout began the meeting by showing appreciation for the strong support the APC received from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and noted the ongoing support from Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
He stressed that the parliament is a crucial place for discussing issues related to children and advocating for their rights in the Arab world.
The meeting involved a thorough discussion of the plan for launching the fourth session of the parliament. One key point was the invitation for Arab countries to nominate children to represent them as parliament members. The focus was on ensuring that these nominations meet certain membership requirements laid out in the founding documents. Al Barout emphasised the importance of encouraging active participation from children of all backgrounds across Arab nations. This effort aims to empower young people and help them understand their rights and the issues they face.
Members of the organising committees gathered to discuss the plans for the upcoming opening session. They focused on important arrangements, including the election of the Speaker of Parliament and two deputies. Additionally, they talked about creating two new committees: one for events and activities and another dedicated to children's rights, all while following the established rules and procedures.
The participants highlighted how valuable it is to have supporting programs organised together with local and Arab partners. These programs will enhance the experience for everyone involved and help raise awareness about important issues affecting children.
The APC’s General Secretariat has announced that it is prepared to welcome Arab delegations in Sharjah. The meeting discussed plans to create a special experience for visitors, featuring engaging programs and cultural activities for children. This reflects Sharjah's role as the capital of Arab culture and a key location for important regional events.
In his closing remarks, Al Barout emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation among national and Arab bodies to meet the objectives of the APC. He noted the need to create a platform for children to express their opinions and discuss their rights and issues. He stated that through collaborative communication, it is possible to organize a new session aimed at elevating the aspirations of children and contributing to the Arab League's efforts in the field of children’s rights, building upon previous successful sessions.
