Sharjah24: In a bid to establish Sharjah as an age-friendly city and improve road safety, the Sharjah Police General Command, alongside the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), has introduced a traffic awareness initiative named "Tamahl." The initiative focusses on enhancing the safety of senior citizens during their road trips by improving road conditions and ensuring they reach their destinations securely.

Promotes road safety for seniors

The initiative includes the distribution of a special sticker that showcases the phrase "Tamahl" along with a symbol, aimed at notifying drivers about the presence of an elderly passenger in their vehicle. Drivers are urged to remain vigilant, prevent any misunderstandings, and offer help to seniors on the road when necessary. The campaign actively encourages senior citizens to adopt safe driving practices. At the event hosted at the Asala Club within the Social Services Department, more than 200 stickers were handed out, attracting the presence of numerous senior citizens and officers from Sharjah Police.

"Tamahl" enhances quality of life for seniors

Colonel Mohammed AlaiDirector of the Traffic and Patrols Department of Sharjah Police, emphasised, "This campaign stands out as one of the distinctive initiatives introduced by Sharjah Police aimed at improving the quality of life for senior citizens." This highlights Sharjah's ongoing commitment to being a city that is friendly for all ages on a global scale. The 'Tamahl' campaign aims to enhance traffic awareness in the community, prioritising care for the most vulnerable groups, especially senior citizens.
